Cardiff Waterfront

I walked back to the Millenium Centre to have some lunch and catch the bus up to the National Museum.

Cardiff like Hobart is a port city although the amount of cargo moved now is a small fraction of what was shipped at it height. This was during the early twentieth century when coal shipments from Wales was shipped throughout the world.

The first 1 million pound cheque was written in that trade by the US Navy to buy Welsh coal. A lot of the waterfront is actually reclaimed land.

The Welsh Assembly building which has appeared in Doctor Who.

A view from inside the Millenium Centre looking at the letters from the inside. Although the public can;t go in that area a zoom lens can still get a good look from the public areas. The letters are actually windows in the foyer of the theatres in the centre.

The Torchwood monolith. The strawberries are because of a food festival on this weekend. Also the city of full of students in full academic robes. It is graduation week for the University of Cardiff and the traditional treat after graduation is Strawberries and Cream.
