My first view of the Millenium Centre as I walked down from the Hotel.
The foyer which was the meeting place for the tour. They are well organised in they a large circular sign handing from the ceiling so people can find the tour. This gift shop doesn't actually get seen in DW but does get mentioned in the episode with the hospital run by the cat sisters. The doctor comments that a hospital needs a gift shop. When the doctor points in the location he would like the shop that is actually where the shop is.
The Torchwood obelisk is not itself at the moment as they are starting a food festival and the obelisk has large pictures of strawberries stuck to it and the water isn't running.
The library at Cardiff Castle is used as the TARDIS library when required.
The path was used during several episodes (Boom Town) where the nightclub that the Doctor goes into to ask about the crashed spaceship
This shop was the one that Rose worked at until it was blown up.They actually built the model and then found the actual store and slightly modified the model to fit.
The is the church (St John the Baptist) where Donna's wedding scene was filmed.
Look carefully at this photo. There is a DW related item in it. I have added a blowup at the end of the post.
The University of Wales. This is where the scenes of the Doctor,Rose,Jack and Micky were chasing Margaret the Slovene.
This is the alley where Margaret keeps teleporting away and the Doctor uses his sonic screwdriver to bring her back.
The graveyard where Clara Oswin Oswald's gravestone was erected. Two stones were created. One original and one aged.
The graveyard contains two weeping angels. These must be a common style because last year at the convention I came to in London, the hotel had some very similar marble statues in the dining room.
This is a the church LlanDaff which is used as the location of Ledworth where Rory and Amy live. This stone marks the location of a parachute mine which dropped there during the WW2 in an attempt to destroy Cardiff docks. The second photo is of the shrapnel damage to the church itself.
Ledworth Common. The duck pond that the Doctor and Amy talk next too does not exist. It as created by the BBC in a car parking space at the edge of the green.
This is one of the three tower blocks that double for the Powell estate where Rose lives. Two are in Cardiff and One in London.
This is house used as 13 Bannerman Road in the Sarah Jane series. He would have showed us the blue house that the Doctor gave to Amy and Rory but the owners don't like visitors.
This is house that was used for Maria/Rani house. It is just across the road as it was in the show.
Back to the Millenium Centre for the end of the tour.
This is where the Doctor and Martha were standing when Jack told them that his nickname was the Face of Bo.
The Welsh Parliament building which has appeared in Doctor Who. Apparently Not a lot to see inside.
From the Christmas Bride (HC Clements)
This is a tribute to Ianto Jones (Torchwood). They are treating him as a real person.
This is the restaurant that the Doctor, Rose ,Jack and Micky were eating when the Doctor sees the newspaper containing the photo of the Margaret the Slovene
This one is where the doctor is having dinner with Margaret and she keeps trying to kill him and he defeats each attempt.
This is where the scenes in the Impossible Astronaut were filmed. To find what looks like it belongs in the US but is right in there backyard.
The scene where River throws herself off of the building and through the TARDIS doors into the swimming pool.
This is the DW related object in the church. One of the knights was stolen and the vicar replaced it with a Cyberman considering that DW filmed there.
The tour was a combination of waking tour and bus tour given the number of locations covered.
The two guides (Peter and Matt) are both actors who have worked as extras on Doctor Who. This was a good tour.
Walked back to the hotel and got some takeaway for dinner.
Got tickets for Hopon/Hopoff bus service tomorrow so I will probably go to Cardiff Castle.
On Friday I have a ticket for the Mines and Mountains Tour.
The tour sounds great, and from your photographs it was a nice day to be strolling around spotting DW locations.
