I went to see the IMAX 3D film that they have on at the museum. It is about the launch and maintenance of the Hubble Space Telescope.
It is probably the best 3D work I have seen. I think this might be the design of the 3D glasses. They have much large lenses than normal glasses so you don't see around the edges.
The scenes shot on board the shuttle during flight are really well done.
When the shuttle is retrieving the telescope by grabbing it with the arm and pulling down onto a mount so it can be serviced.
NASA even had plans to rescue the crew if the shuttle was damaged during launch by having a second shuttle on the pad as a precaution.
The Hubble telescope is like a lot of technology. It is easy to put together but difficult to service as some parts are hard to get to with damaging other parts. Add to that the micro gravity that the astronauts are working in and the spacesuit gloves.
So it is not your average repair job.
